Abstract
In the current research, the role of the competitive power of the surplus product market on the persistence of abnormal stock returns after the first and last quarterly profit announcement based on information asymmetry theory was investigated. In terms of classification, the present research is of the applied type and the research method is of the quantitative type. And in terms of data analysis, it is a description of the correlation type. The data needed to test the hypotheses using the stock exchange website, accompanying notes and the activity report of the board of directors to the assembly of 161 manufacturing companies admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange during the period from the beginning of 2017 to the end of 2021 It was collected and analyzed using the multivariate regression method with the help of Eviuse software. The results of the research showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the competitive power of the surplus product market and the continuation of abnormal stock returns in one month after the publication of the first quarterly profit announcement forecast, and an inverse and significant relationship between the competitive power of the surplus product market and the continuation of abnormal stock returns. In one month after the publication of the fourth quarterly profit announcement forecast.
